Club Policies
& Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

Lane Cove Cockatoos Wheelchair Basketball Club exists to provide a safe, inclusive, supportive and enjoyable environment for wheelchair basketball participation, skill development and community engagement for players of all ages and abilities. By participating in club activities, all members, parents, guardians, volunteers and supporters agree to comply with these Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.

2. Participation & Membership

All participants must: complete any required membership or registration forms provide accurate and current information comply with club rules, venue requirements and directions from coaches or officials behave respectfully towards all participants and volunteers Members under 18 years of age must have registration and participation approval completed by a parent or legal guardian. The Club reserves the right to refuse, suspend or terminate participation where behaviour is unsafe, abusive, discriminatory or inconsistent with the values of the Club.

3. Child Safety & Protection

The Club is committed to providing a safe environment for children and young people. All coaches, volunteers and officials involved in junior activities are expected to: act professionally and respectfully maintain appropriate boundaries support inclusive participation comply with relevant child protection legislation and requirements Where required by law or governing body policy, relevant volunteers and officials may be required to hold a valid Working With Children Check. Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination or inappropriate behaviour towards children or vulnerable participants will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

4. Coaching & Supervision

The Club aims to provide safe, supportive and appropriately supervised training sessions and activities. Participants acknowledge that: coaching is provided in a community sporting environment instruction may vary depending on participant ability, experience and safety requirements wheelchair basketball is a physical sport involving movement, contact and skill development activities Parents or guardians remain responsible for junior participants outside official training or activity times.

5. Assumption of Risk & Liability

Participation in wheelchair basketball and associated activities involves inherent physical risks, including the risk of injury. By participating in Club activities, members acknowledge and accept that: they participate voluntarily and at their own risk physical activity and sport may result in injury, accident or equipment damage the Club, its volunteers, coaches and officials are not responsible for personal injury, loss or damage except where required by law Participants are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit to participate and for advising the Club of any relevant medical conditions or support requirements.

6. Insurance

The Club may hold insurance policies relevant to its activities and affiliations; however, participants acknowledge that: insurance coverage may be limited personal accident or health insurance remains the responsibility of individual members and families coverage conditions may vary depending on the activity or competition involved Members are encouraged to make their own enquiries regarding personal insurance requirements.

7. Equipment & Facilities

Participants agree to: use sports wheelchairs and equipment responsibly follow all safety directions regarding equipment use report damaged or unsafe equipment to Club officials respect training venues and facilities Deliberate misuse of equipment or facilities may result in suspension of participation or liability for damage.

8. Photography & Media

Photographs and video footage may be captured during training sessions, competitions and Club activities for promotional, community and social media purposes. Media involving junior participants will only be used where parent or guardian consent has been provided. Members may withdraw media consent at any time by contacting the Club in writing.

9. Code of Conduct

All members, parents, guardians, coaches, volunteers and supporters are expected to: treat all participants with respect and inclusion encourage positive sportsmanship and teamwork support a welcoming environment for players of all abilities and backgrounds follow reasonable directions from coaches, officials and venue staff refrain from abusive, aggressive, discriminatory or unsafe behaviour respect referees, officials and opposition participants help maintain a positive community culture within the Club The Club has zero tolerance for: bullying or harassment discrimination or vilification violence or threats inappropriate conduct towards children or vulnerable participants deliberate unsafe behaviour

10. Privacy & Confidentiality

The Club is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of member information in accordance with its Privacy Policy. Personal information will not be shared with third parties without consent unless required by law, medical emergency or sporting administration requirements.

11. Amendments

The Club may update these Terms of Service and Code of Conduct from time to time to support safe and effective Club operations. Continued participation in Club activities constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.
